Bournvita Quiz Contest
Bournvita Quiz Contest – the
most popular ever quiz show on Indian television! As a vivid childhood memory,
some of us must have been compared by our parents with the super-brainy kids on
that show. There were questions based on science, history, literature, and
general knowledge. There couldn’t have been a better quiz show host than Derek
o’Brien.
Saanp Seedi (Snakes n Ladders)
This was, perhaps, the first
ever India TV game show that wasn’t inspired by any American TV show. The
show’s format was based on the indoor version of the popular indoor board game,
Snakes and Ladders. The show was an instant hit and Mohan Kapur, its awesome
host became a household name. Don’t we all miss watching that show with our
heartbeats racing up and down.
Khullja Sim Sim
A Limca Book of Records show,
Khullja Sim Sim first aired in 2001 and every household dreamt of appearing on
the show to crack big luck and loads of surprising gifts. Hosted by Aman Verma,
this show garnered immense popularity on television and became a weekend
regular in every Indian household. Its last season was telecasted back in 2012.
Though some of the game shows
playing now on TV are supremely innovative. Check with your DTH service
provider on how to choose channels,
in case you need assistance.
Deal Ya No Deal
Indian adaption of an extremely
popular UK game show, Deal ya no Deal was hosted by Bollywood celebrity, R.
Madhavan. The show was loved by millions of India families as the contestants
were put on a spot to choose among two tricky options. Though the show just ran
for four seasons, its popularity lingered on for a long time; proof is the
arcade games with the same format.
Antakshari
The first season of India’s
finest ever musical game show and hosts Annu Kapoor and Pallavi Joshi became
overnight stars! Such was the humungous popularity of the most loved
music-based tv show in India. The show had a similar format as the classic
antakshari game where the participants have to take a cue from the last word of
the song sung by their opponent and have to start the song by that word. Fun,
musical, and warm – we all still miss it!
