DTH service, or what you call
direct to home service, is a service that lets you enjoy the broadcast of your
favourite TV channels and shows by broadcasting on our television sets through
the transmission of satellite signals. The use of DTH is so popular in India
and almost every Indian household has subscribed to a DTH connection having DTH HD channels or DS subscription.
While the service of DTH
connection is pretty flawless and works fine for most of the time, in some
extreme cases it may encounter some problem and may not be able to receive or
decode signals. While this may be a temporary issue, there are common DTH
troubleshooting questions and guide that may help you fix the DTH signals
issues yourself.
Here are some details about the
common DTH problems and how to troubleshoot them to keep receiving strong
signals:
Check the DTH Power Connection
The first and most basic problem
with your DTH or set top box not working is the power issue. If your set top
box isn’t turned on, make sure it is connected to a legit power socket with
uninterrupted power supply. In case it still doesn’t work, please try inserting
into the other power socket or check if the power sockets are working fine. You
can check the power strength of your sockets by using a multi meter. Make sure
there is adequate and uninterrupted power supply for the DTH set top box to
continue watching your favourite DTH HD channels.
Check the DTH Cables
If your set top box is still not
working after being plugged into the right power socket, the next thing you
need to check is that all the cables of your DTH connection are plugged in and
tightened properly. A loose cable may be the cause of problem in broadcasting
your favourite DTH HD channels. Once made sure that all the cables are plugged
in and tightened properly, restart your Dish TV set top box to check if its
working.
DTH Signal Issue (Bad Weather Conditions)
If the power is on and the cables
are all plugged in but you’re still not able to watch your DTH HD channels,
please go outside and check the weather. At times, extreme rainy conditions
together with fast wind cause a problem in broadcast of your DTH HD channels.
Wait for the weather to clear up or the rains and winds to pass and the DTH
broadcast services are automatically restored.
You can also try changing the
channels as sometimes in extremely bad weather conditions, some of the channels
might not work while few others will be receiving signals.
Insert the DTH Card Again
In a few cases, DTH signal card
not properly inserted is the problem behind poor or no reception of DTH HD
channels. We advise you, in that case, to remove the card and insert it again
properly and tightly till the screen shows the detection of the card. Make sure
the card is gone inside completely and not lurking outside.
